THHITH
The second appropriated video from The Hundred In The Hands song, "Dressed in Dresden"
This track grows on me like herpes on a hooker.

Toto...
Seriously, I'm still singing "Tow the line... love isn't always on time." My Mom used to clean our house to Toto. She's in the next room prepping food for Thursday, it's Tuesday... she can't help herself.

TVOTR vs. REM
I dunno, is it me or is Dancing Choose our new version of REM's It's Then End of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)?
Fat Fighters
CHF has never seen Little Britain. My fondest memory of Zoe is her doing bits of, "Anybody Dust? No. Anybody, anybody Dust?" around the house... If you haven't seen it you should. They're like the male French and Saunders.

The King Khan and BBQ Show
It might be my thinned west coast blood adjusting to the harsh reality that I moved myself back to New York at the start of a long, cold winter... or that this King Khan BBQ Show song just resonates with me this week for one reason or another... Or the subtitles in this video for "Why Don't You Lie?" just make me want to share the video with all 26 of you.
Tonight @ Bluestockings Books

CHF is taking me to a reading tonight by Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore for his new book So Many Ways To Sleep Badly. I find it odd that someone so fervently anti-corporate and anti-assimilation would still have a myspace page... isn't that the epitome of the very thing? Regardless, the book sounds interesting...
It's tonight at 7PM. Bluestockings Bookstore on Allen.
Bowerbirds Video - "In Our Talons"
This makes me want to join a commune in Northern British Columbia or maybe just visit one for the day. Thank you Bowerbirds... and thank you neo-folk!
Don't Sit So Close To Me
If someone put me in a cage I might react this way... espically if I were cold.

The Hundreds In The Hands

Over the weekend, Holly and I were exchanging new tunes she played this song for me by The Hundreds in the Hands, her friend Ellie's band. You can download this song from their website here.

This Just Out: UPDATE
Dear Lades and Boy,
You've been asking about the fate of This Just Out for a couple of months now and Liz and I wanted to let you know to hang in there! This Just Out With Liz Feldman will be back in 2009! We've both been working diligently on other projects, but as many of you know from seeing us out and about we've been filming material for next season. So hang tight, we love you for loving us and we'll be back next year.
In the meantime, if you are in Los Angeles Liz is preforming on November 26th, December 3rd and 26th at The Hollywood Improv. You can get more information at her Myspace page .
As for me, I've moved my base back to Brooklyn and if you are in New York you can see me at Bar Reis on December 10th for Sherry Weaver's Speakeasy Storytellers Series and on December 21st for Holly Miranda's Holly Daze Spectacular at Zebulon.
I'm also talking with some of the gals from The Socials to get a girls girls party started on a week night somewhere on The Bowery... more info on that soon.
Hope you're all doing smashingly well.
Love and Knishes,
Raimy

Please Go See Slumdog Millionaire
CHF and I went to see Danny Boyle's new film Slumdog Millionaire on Thursday. If it is playing in your city, I urge you to go see it. By far one of the most uplifting films this year.
This is why I love YouTube
I typed in "Kangaroo Attack" and this is what came up.
Ilsa and I woke up in a vodka haze in Chelsea this morning, we watched this video over and over again. Times.

Jason Allen on the gay marriage ban...
Jason Allen (my buddy guy) is doing blogs over at Funny or Die here is what he has to say about the ban on gay marriage...
or click here for the original post.
or click here for the original post.
It's not that I think gay people should be singled out when it comes to marriage. No, I believe in equality. That is why I don't think any of us should be choosing who we marry. Marriage is too important to be left to the people, and even too important for state governments to control. That is why I am calling upon the federal government to assign us each a spouse at birth and enforce mandatory baby weddings.
Here's my proposed law:
Each baby born in the United States of America and its territories is to be paired with another baby. Pairings shall be of the opposite sex and the same ethnic/racial background. No baby shall be paired with another who ranks more than 2 points cuter in a Cutech 9400 cuteness analysis.
Registered nurses are hereby vested with the authority (and obligation) to officiate newborn baby weddings. In Nevada, Elvis impersonators are hereby designated as nurses. In U.S. waters, ship's captains are hereby designated as Elvis impersonators.
During the wedding ceremony, parents may speak in high-pitched, fake baby voices to say "I do" on behalf of their new child.
Families may opt for a tiny wedding reception package including a little tuxedo, a tiny white dress, and an adorable little band or DJ, as available.
For their wedding night, newborn newlyweds are to share a hospital baby-display box, but must remain fully diapered (to avoid potential conflict with the "Babies Having Babies Act").
Honeymoons are to take place at the age of 18, in the form of military service abroad.
If no eligible babies are available to marry a given newborn, then that unholy child is to be branded with a letter "Q" on the forehead. This "Q" does not stand for anything, but, being the ugliest letter, shall make them unattractive enough to repel anyone they might want to marry. This child shall be groomed for a career at the Federal Marriage Bureau, which is to be staffed entirely by such Q-heads.
Marriage is hereby legally designated as a Section 22B Sacred Union under the "Mandatory Recognition of Inherent Beauty Act." As such, any attacks or perceived threats to marriage, as defined above, will face military retribution.
Please write to your Senator or Representative to urge their support, but for best results do not mention my name. There was some unpleasantness during my recent tour of Capitol Hill.
Keith Olbermann Nails It
Date: Wednesday, November 12, 2008
Time: 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Location: New York Manhattan Mormon Temple
Street: 125 Columbus Ave at 65th Street
City/Town: New York, NY
Tens of thousands of our brothers and sisters are in the streets in California and Salt Lake City and around the country protesting the votes banning same-sex marriage in California.
Join them! Make your voices heard right here in New York City.
We will tell the Mormon Church how we feel about its relentless campaign to condemn and control our lives. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was, by far, the biggest financer of California's heinous and hateful Proposition 8. The Mormon Church begged their members to donate money to Prop 8, pouring 20 million dollars into the campaign. And their attacks on us didn't start there and aren't about to end. They're plotting right now to bring their money and influence to bear against the LGBT community everywhere in this country, including trying to prevent marriage equality in New York.
Join us in speaking out against hate and discrimination! Stop them taking away your rights!
PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION - BRING SIGNS -- ALERT THE MEDIA
Dear Holly,
Yes you beat me to this blog post but your breath smells and mine doesn't.

Big Jumps Want To Save The Reasons
I know, I know... It's been a while. Let me just say that between moving my entire life from Los Angeles to New York, the election, the utter disappointment at Californians passing Prop 8, protesting, partying, saying good-bye for now... yes, the blog fell by the way side. But have no fear, I'm getting settled and will be back to posting daily by early next week.
In the meantime, enjoy Clare and The Reasons covering one of my favorite songs...
and a love, Emiliana Torrini
and a welcome home,
