You Never Know...

Hiatus from This Just Out is at the half way mark! We're coming back in June. Back in New York for a bit and trying to see as much music as I can.

So like... last night I was gonna go check out Bowerbirds at Monkeytown but the house that I'm house-sitting had a massive flood, and when I say massive I mean like an inch of water covering the entire first floor. So now my sweet retreat has kind of turned into me overseeing the reconstruction of my friends basement. It's covered in plastic and looks like a scene from an alien movie; I had to rain check Glucky's offer and stick close to home.

Around midnight I took a stroll down 7th ave to get some fresh air and walked by Bar 4. Dude! So Bar 4 has an open mic on Tuesday nights and as I'm walking up I hear this crazy 3-part harmony and I have to go in for one drink. That was midnight, by two I'd made bar friends with Duck! one of the kids in Dinosaur Feathers (the source of the 3-part harmony), saw an impromptu two song set from Wakey! Wakey!, got schooled by Matt Singer and serenaded by Bar 4's own Kevin Johnston.

This ain't the anti-folk, if you are in the Dark Slope on a Tuesday night do yourself a favor and stop into Bar 4 for an hour or three. Tonight Aloke plays LIT. I've been here nearly three weeks and I've still not been into Manhattan.

I sat under this tree in Prospect Park for an hour today, why would I leave Brooklyn?

More soonyish.

Night Of The Living Dyke: The Invagion of Legion

Ne Ne Ne New York Girls! I'm in town and planning a take over of everyone's favorite East Billyblog's watering hole: Legion. I'll be playlisting some of my more recent 4-star tracks and DJ Cutlet is gonna be serving up drinks all night. So ladies! Tell your girls, this THURSDAY the dykes invade Legion, it's a not so spontaneous take over spread the word!
